Zara Khan was standing at the bus stop outside Connaught Place, fanning herself with her dupatta. The bus was late, again.

"Yaar, ye bus bhi na, itni slow chalti hai"

(Oh man, this bus moves so slowly),

she muttered. Her handbag strap was digging into her shoulder, but she didn't care.

Across the street, a shiny black car screeched to a halt.

Arhaan Mirza stepped out, checking his watch.

He looked around and froze. "Zara?" he asked, his eyebrows raised.

Zara turned and almost dropped her handbag. "Arhaan? Tum yahan?"

(Arhaan? You're here?)

She crossed her arms.

"Bus ka intezar kar rahi thi, aur tum, fancy car mein?"

(I was waiting for the bus, and you're in a fancy car?)

Arhaan smirked. "Arre, Zara, itni surprised kyun? Old friends mil rahe hain, itna drama mat kar"

(Hey Zara, why so surprised? Old friends are meeting, don't make such a drama).

"Old friends? Haan, sure. Pichle 6 saal mein old friends ka naam bhi badal diya kya?"

(Old friends? Yeah, sure. Did the name of old friends change in the last 6 years?)

She rolled her eyes, but a small smile betrayed her annoyance.

He laughed.

"Chalo , Tumhe bus pakadni hai ya main pick-up karu?"

(Come on,  Do you want to catch the bus or should I pick you up?)

Zara raised her eyebrows.

"Main apni bus ko appreciate karungi. Waise bhi, tumhare rich guy ego se bachna better hai"

(I'll appreciate my bus. Anyway, it's better to stay away from your rich guy ego).

Arhaan grinned and leaned casually against a lamppost.

"Ego? Zara, main toh bas yahan khada hua hoon. Bus ka intezar tumhara saath karne ka mauka mila, bas itna"

(Ego? Zara, I'm just standing here. I just got the chance to wait with you for the bus, that's all).

She shook her head.

"Acha chalo, main jaati hoon. Tum yahan khade khade hero ban jao"

(Okay fine, I'm going. You stand here and play the hero).

She picked up her bag and boarded the bus, waving dramatically.

Arhaan watched her go and muttered, "Drama queen."

As the bus pulled away,

Zara shouted, "Next time, Arhaan, chai pe milenge! Tumhare jokes aur rich guy stories sunne hain!"

(Next time, Arhaan, we'll meet for tea! I want to hear your jokes and rich guy stories!)

Arhaan laughed to himself, shaking his head.

"Ye ladki bhi na, kabhi serious nahi"

 (This girl, she's never serious).

The evening sun cast golden light over the street. Life was messy, unpredictable, and funny at the same time. Both Zara and Arhaan knew one thing—they were definitely going to meet again, and next time, the drama would be even bigger.
